A man and a temple

The man limped into the room, blood trickled of his leg leaving a trail behind him, rain pattered on the cracked stone floor, a canopy of trees shielded the ruin from the worst of the storm. Dense trees surround the temple from all sides like a huge brick wall. But the man had made it. He had battled his way through the rainforest and won. Now he would collect his prize. Now he could see the gold softly glowing in the half light. He lunged forwards, towards the gold. He noticed skeletons propped up on the crumbling walls.  The man started to move towards the gold. And also the man was parched, he lent down , cupped his hands and drank from the little lake that stood in his way.

Next, he waded through the rapidly growing lake and clambered up the stairs. And finally he put the gold in his sack. He clambered back down the stairs and entered the lake. When he was halfway through he sensed danger. Then, something brushed passed his leg. The water rippled close to him. Then his blood went cold. Thousands of silver fish were charging at him. Seconds later a stabbing pain tore through his leg. He was dragged under the water. The water went red and his limp body surfaced yet he could be anything he had been torn apart.

  1. Hi Mac,
Good work! I like the description “blood trickled of his leg leaving a trail behind him” as I can feel the pain he is going through just reading this. The verbs you have used are very accurate.
