Harvest Celebration

Our Harvest Festival will take place at St.Matthew’s Church in Durham Road on Friday 20th October at 2pm.

You are most welcome to come to the service.

Please note that the children should be collected from the Church that day rather than from school.  If your child normally goes to after school club on a Friday we will walk them back to school.

Our class has been asked to collect bags of pasta to support the work of Wimbledon Guild as part of the Harvest Festival.  If you would like to contribute, please hand your donation to anyone of us at the classroom door from today onwards.

Many thanks!

St. Matthew’s Open Evening

Last Friday you will have received an email from Mr Quinn inviting you to the school Open Evening which will be held next Monday (17th July) from 3.45pm until 6pm.

This is a lovely opportunity for you to visit the school with your child at anytime during the evening (appointments not necessary).

You are encouraged to visit both your child’s current classroom where you will be able to look at their work and then to visit your child’s new classroom where you will be able to meet their new teacher!

Seesaw will also be open and I am currently looking into how parents can download a zip file of their child’s work…details and instructions to follow at the end of term!

We hope to see many of you next Monday.

Parents & carers of children starting Reception in September 2017 are also most welcome to come to the Open Evening.

Mufti day

Just a reminder that it is mufti day tomorrow! The details below were sent out in an email last week…

Dear Reception to Year 6 parents/carers,

We are writing to inform you about the Wilberforce house event that is taking place on 19th May in favour of Alzheimer’s Society.

Next Friday, all children will be coming in to school dressed in their own clothes. However, at least one piece of their clothing should be blue*. For the privilege, they need to bring £1 to school. In addition to this, we will be selling a range of pins (£1), lanyards (50p), wristbands (£1) and badges (£1) in the play ground before and after school. We are also hosting various different ‘memory’ games on the field at lunch time to help the children get a glimpse of what life for people with Alzheimer’s is like. All children will be invited to participate.

Wilberforce’s chosen charity this year is Alzheimer’s Society, which is a great charity that invests in researching for a possible cure for Dementia; providing carers and support to patients or families and also organising fundraising events. I’m sure many of you have heard of the disease or know someone living with it. We have recently been in touch with Alzheimer’s Society and they have very kindly agreed to send us a fundraising pack, some wristbands and pin badges.

Thank you for your support,

Yours sincerely,

Wilberforce House captains,

Kristian and Georgia. Yr 6

*jeans are not accepted as their blue piece of clothing.

Christmas shows and party

Christmas Shows:

There will be two performances in the School hall next week.

TUESDAY 6th DECEMBER at 2.00pmThis will be for Afternoon Nursery and Year 1 parents.

WEDNESDAY 7TH DECEMBER at 9.30 amThis is for Morning nursery, Reception and Year 2 parents.

Please be on time for the show as late comers are not usually admitted because it can be very disruptive for the ‘performers’.

After the performance on Tuesday, the children will come home in their costumes.  Please send them into school in their costumes on Wednesday morning.  We will keep their uniforms at school so they can change after the show.

Christmas Party:

The FSU Christmas party will take place during the afternoon of Thursday 15th December.  Nearer the time there will be a board outside for you to sign up for your contributions to our party tea. Please remember our ‘nuts and seeds’ policy!

Once again thank you so much for your help and support at this busy time of year!

Parents and carers are all most welcome to join us for the service which will start at 2pm.

Please note that after school pick-up will be straight from the Church at approx. 3pm.

When collecting your child in the Church, please bear with us as we will hand the children over one-by-one to ensure everyone has been collected and we will ask the children not to go to you until we have called their name.  Most importantly, please do not leave with your child without making sure we have seen you together.

We will bring water bottles, snack bags/boxes and lunch bags with us to the Church, so please remember to collect these before leaving.

Finally, Reception class are collecting packets of pasta for our Harvest box which is donated to Wimbledon Guild.  We will be putting our box together all this week, so please send in your donation if you are able to.

Many thanks for all your support!
