The chorus of the rainforest filled the air,
And echoed all around.
A choir of birds sang,
And created a tremendous
sound.
The jade green city shone,
And all was bright and well.
Until blue turned to inky black,
And birds grew fear and fell.
Thin cracks of lightning
Emerged from the cloud
Splitting the sky in half.
Menacing rainclouds lay
Large and proud.
And only chaos was heard
The storm howled over them
And echoed through the night
Only a miracle of nature
Could save them from that sight
Until, at last the danger,
Trickled out of sight.
But the animals will never forget,
When the storm hit that night.
Well done Mia!
I really like the rhyming in this poem – it is really clever and well thought out. I also like the turning point in your poem – it is very clear in my mind and each verse is very evocative. 🙂
