The last flight

Icarus nervously stepped up on to the ledge. His heart pounding. The cold wind swirled around his raven-black hair just before he was about to jump. A sensation  of fear trickled down Icarus` back . His heart missed a beat . He plummeted down. The scaly wings that his father made caught the wind then they unfurled.

Icarus felt frightened at first as he was trying to master the technique of flying. He felt surprised that he didn’t fall to his death. Icarus soared upwards. Closer and closer ton the scorching sun he rose. Suddenly he heard a loud warning from his over-cautious father from the warning, he started to fly downwards.

Now the pride had overcome Icarus so he elevated  in the sky until he was in range of the sun`s burning rays. Drip drip went the wax on the arrogant boy`s back. He didn`t notice because he was to engrossed with doing his skills of flying. Soon the wings became tattered and worn out .

Before long there were no more feathers on his back and he immediately dropped! Splash went the sea . Icarus was surrounded by a curtain of murky water, which sent a spray of a thousand tiny diamonds dropping from the sky. The water rippled as if it had eaten a ship . Grief erupted inside Daedalus as Icarus was never seen again.

  1. I like how you have described the setting of the wind because it paints a clear picture in my head of how cold it is.

    Well done Kris
