Icarus’s flight

As Icarus stepped onto the ledge, the Aegean breeze rushed to Icarus’s shaken body. This was his chance. As soon as he glimpsed below, he had a sinking feeling in his stomach about what lay ahead. He knew something could go horribly wrong. He knew if he miscalculated, he’d be slashed up by the sharp edged rocks that would lead to his painful death. Suddenly, a deafening screech made Icarus flinch and he could see the sharp rocks drawing near. He prayed and prayed that he wouldn’t be finished the way he foresaw. Time slowed. Icarus was stunned. at the last second, Icarus’s scaly wings unfurled like a bold eagle soaring the Azure sky. He  was proud and relieved on what he had achieved but he still couldn’t believe what his father had done to Icarus. Betrayed. Lost. He was unsure.

Below was the still, sapphire sea that sparkled from the sun’s glimmer.Icarus twisted and twirled as his father dived out of king Minos’s Immense tower. The sun shone on Icarus’s pale back. Icarus flew with confidence as he soared higher. His father Daedalus shouted, “You must not fly to close to the blazing sun. The wax on your back will melt!” Icarus could only reject what Daedalus as he did not see his father as a trusted person. Not after what had happened at the tower.

Clouds rolled in from the dark sky. Waves formed and made he sea a dark, gloomy atmosphere. Icarus known enough to realise he was in grave danger. Panic. As lightning struck, thunder roared as rain poured down but Icarus was far above the clouds. Immediately, the sun sizzled and blazed on  the wax attached Icarus’s back. Drip. He saw his grey, tattered wings above him as he plummeted down through the stormy sky. Icarus was buried forever. He was never seen again.

  1. I really like the atmosphere that you created in the first paragraph. It painted a dramatic scene in my head. The language and description is also really good .
    Good Work!
