Year 2 Home Learning for Wednesday 25th March 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

Below is the overview and resources for today’s learning. The excellent enthusiasm for ClassDojo has continued which is fantastic. When uploading the children’s work, please make sure it is only the challenges I have set, all of the teaching and talking time segments do not need to be uploaded.

The new ClassDojo code is: OIV WGJ

I have also had a few parents say they occasionally have found it difficult to access ClassDojo. This is most likely due to the huge amount of traffic the website (and various other websites) are now receiving due to everyone being at home. When I can’t access the website, it normally works again after a few minutes.

Thank you for your continued support during these difficult times.

Year 2 Home learning for Tuesday 24th March 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for an excellent first day of home learning. I hope this enthusiasm in the children can continue in the weeks to come.

Below is the learning overview and resources needed for today’s learning. The video for maths can be found on our Class Dojo class story. This was due to the file size being too large to upload to the blog.

I will be available to contact today between 10am and 12pm. If you have questions outside of this time I might not be able to respond. Also while I will be looking at everything the children upload, I might not be able to comment on every piece of work or I would not have time to approve everything that is being sent to me. I will do my best to comment on as many pieces of work as possible!

As some of you may have seen, Mrs Killy, Mrs MacDonald and Mrs Sullivan will also be available to communicate with throughout the day. They will try to talk to the children they usually work closely with to continue giving them excellent support while we are out of the classroom.

The Classdojo code is: MQC LWY

Thank you for your continued support in these very difficult times.

Year 2 Home Learning for Monday 23rd March 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

Here is the first day of our virtual learning. Below is the Lesson overview for today,  a weekly overview and the resources you will need for your child’s learning.

The children will be able to upload any work that they want to their Class Dojo portfolio. Not everything needs to be uploaded. The time on each subject is only a guidance. Some children might finish activities quicker, some might need more time.

If you have any questions about the children’s learning or if the children want to speak to me, I will be available to contact between 10am and 12pm on ClassDojo.

The new ClassDojo 6 digit code is: MQC LWY

Some parents also asked to see what our timetable looked like when in school to help with a daily routine and structure, so I have attached the Year 2 school timetable as well.

This style of learning is new for everyone and I am sure certain things will need tweaking so that it works for everybody. Thank you for your patience and support, it is greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Mr Stocking

Home Learning

Dear Parents and Carers,

During these uncertain times, as a school, we have considered ways to keep learning progressing whilst at home.

Attached is a guide for parents to access their child’s learning via Virtual School. Please note that the procedures for Years 1 and 2 differ from Year 3.

Years 1 and 2-Key Stage One Home Learning Guide

Year 3- Key Stage 2 Virtual School Guide for parents (1)

Thank you for your understanding, patience, prayers and help during this difficult time.

Kind regards,

Miss Luetchford

Virtual Classroom and Class Dojo

Dear Parents and Carers

During the isolation period we will be facing, the children’s learning will continue through the class blog and communication with myself and Mrs Killy will be available on ClassDojo.

Both yourselves and the children will be able to access ClassDojo, and work can be uploaded to the children’s portfolio which I will be able to see. I will also be uploading videos of myself reading stories or explaining how to do an activity if I feel as though that is needed.

For the children to access ClassDojo they will need a 6 digit code. They have been shown how to do this and have had a play round with the website at school. This code will change every 2 days. The new class code will be posted on the blog every other day for the children to access.

Pupil’s current ClassDojo 6 digit code: UZO GSQ

Whilst there is a lot of uncertainty at this time, the children have responded in a calm and responsible manner. Thank you for your continued support of Year 2 and the school as a whole.

Kind Regards

Mr Stocking and the Year 2 team

Year 3: Helpful homework hints!

Step 1: Open google chrome or go to google.com in your internet browser.

Step 2: Click on the 9 dots in the top right hand corner of the screen

A menu should drop down that looks like this:

Step 3: Click on account.

The screen should look something like this. Click on the blue sign in button.

You will now need to sign in with your username. It will be some letters of your surname, first name and some random numbers.

Step 4: type in : username.315@gsuite.st-matthews.merton.sch.uk

Step 5: type in password. This is a random word followed by a number. Eg football2

Step 6: Click on the 9 dots again and this should drop down. Click on the classroom icon.

This page should appear. Click on the purple box.

In the classroom you will find a stream. You can message one another, which I know the children have been very excited about. If anyone writes anything rude or abusive on there, I will block you from posting.

To access the homework, click onto classwork.

Please all have a go at home and let me know at school how you get on.
