Welcome back! It has been so lovely to have the children back at school and in our classroom once more.
This week we have started learning lots of facts about rainforests. Did you know that algae grows on a sloth’s back? This helps them camouflage in trees to help hide from predators such as snakes and jaguars. We have learnt about the layers of a rainforest, the different animals and the reasons for and consequences of deforestation. Next week we will be writing our own information pages about rainforests to show our learning.
In maths we have been learning how to read and record time on an analogue clock. We have also been learning to sequence the days of the week. We used a special song to help us: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtQcnZ2JWsY
Next week we will be reviewing our learning of position and direction.
On Thursday 25th March the children will be creating a rainforest diorama for an art project. On Monday 22nd March, please could the children bring in a small box (preferably a shoe box) to use to complete this project. This is to ensure the boxes have enough time to quarantine before being used. Some examples are below:
