Fruit Salad for Beegu

This week we have been learning how to write a set of instructions to help teach Beegu how to make a fruit salad. We have sequenced each of the steps and learnt that bossy verbs tell you what to do. Next week we will be writing our instructions and using them to then make the fruit salad.

In maths we have been continuing to learn about the properties of 2-D and 3-D shapes.

In science we have learnt how some animals use camouflage to help them hunt their prey or hide from predators in order to survive.

In phonics we have been learning the following sounds:

au (haunt, August, sauce)

ir (girl, twirl)

ou (shout, cloud)

Attached is the link to the Spelling Shed for the children to be able to revise these sounds: https://play.spellingshed.com/#/login

Next week it will be the performance of our Christmas show ‘How Charlie Brown Discovered Christmas’. The children have been very busy practising their lines and songs and we hope you enjoy their performance.

This week we have enjoyed learning about  Issa’s paper aeroplane, Jan’s bird ‘Birdy’, Theo’s panda ‘White’, Grace’s hedgehog and rabbit ‘Ava and Freya’, Caitie’s cuddly dog and Gabriel’s Switch and Go Dino. Next week it is the turn of the ‘Roaring Rocket’ table (Toby, Elizabeth, Eddie, Ranga, Nicky and George) for Show and Tell.

We hope you have a restful weekend,

The Year One Team
