In English we have been learning how to write a set of instructions. On Monday we each followed a set of instructions to make a ‘rainbow fish’. We then used this experience to help us decide ‘what makes a good set of instructions’.
Next week we are going to write a set of instructions for Mr Grinling to teach him how to make a tzatziki dip for his lunch.
In maths we have continued learning about position and direction. We have used the language of ‘left, right, quarter turn and half turn’ when describing the direction of an object. We then created a class map and used co-ordinates to locate the position of an object. We have also been reviewing our learning by completing our termly maths assessments. These are a way to review our learning and help us get ready for Year Two.
Congratulations to Caitie and Nicole S who have been chosen to represent our class in the School Council poetry competition on Tuesday. They will be performing the poem ‘PLEAS-E’ by June Crebin which is all about a pesky bumble bee. Our School Councillors Eliza and Lenny will help host the competition.
This week we have enjoyed learning about Albie’s pokemon cards, coin and Chewbacca, Grace’s soft toy, Coco’s soft toy, Ranga’s Lego book and Nicky’s tooth. Next week it is the turn of the shark table for Show and Tell (Ben, Caroline, Eliza, Theo, Lenny and Marcus).
We hope you have a restful (and sunny) weekend,
The Year One Team
