Year Two Blog

This week in maths we have been continuing to learn about the place value of numbers within 100. We have begun to learn about addition and subtraction and the relationship between the two operations. For example:

If 8 + 2 = 10, 10 – 2 = 8.

In science  we have continued to look at everyday materials and this week we conducted an experiment to see if materials change by bending, twisting, stretching and squashing. We put some materials in water to see what would happen and begun to predict what would happen to materials when heated.

In English we have been learning about the features of a newspaper report. We read some First News to show us what a good one looks like. Then began planning our own newspaper report about the Lonely Beast.

On Spelling Shed this week, the children can practise spelling common exception words (challenge words) and words containing ‘-ge’ (change, strange, range).

The children  really enjoyed out door P.E  (before the rain came).

We hope you have a lovely weekend,

Miss Bennett, Mrs Bibby, Mrs Killy and Mrs Glanville 🙂
