We are Poets and We Know It

This week’s year 3 blog is written by Kallum and Sofia.

This week we have been learning all about poetry. We have learnt about using imagery and onomatopoeia to make your poem interesting for the reader. To inspire our poem we are using our class book ‘Major Glad and Major Dizzy’ which is about two soldiers who have a hard life. They belong to two children called Amelia and William but they get lost when they slip between the floorboards.

We have also been learning extended noun phrases such as “Two smart soldiers standing in attention.”

In maths we have been learning about column addition and subtraction. We have also been learning about division and multiplication.

In science we have been learning about magnets and forces. We did an experiment to see which things were magnetic and which things were not magnetic. We have also learnt that magnets can repel or attract.

In music we have been playing different instruments to the same piece of music.  Taking it turns and listening carefully to the pulse and the beat.

In French we have been learning about instructions and our body. “Ecoutez” means “Listen”.

This week has been very good and fun!
